Doncaster Dome is celebrating scooping the Best Large Venue at the prestigious business tourism awards.
The venue, managed by Doncaster Dome Leisure Trust (DDLT), won the title Large Venue of the Year at the 2010 Insider Business Tourism Awards.
In an exceptional year for the Dome, the team delivered an extensive program of events, including large scale conferences, trade fairs, exhibitions and the BBC Walking with Prehistoric Life exhibition.
The Dome was up against Ponds Forge, the Yorkshire Event Centre, the National Railway Museum in York and the Harrogate International Centre.
Now in their third year, the awards recognise organisations and venues that go the extra mile to bring more business into Yorkshire, celebrating the very best of Yorkshire's business tourism industry.
Michael Hart, general manager at the Dome said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the title best large venue at these prestigious industry awards. The award highlights the diverse nature of events held at the venue.
"It really is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff that we are recognised for delivering excellence in business tourism. Such honours help to put the Dome on the map, highlighting the hard work we do to help promote the town on both a local and national level."
The winners of the 2010 Insider Business Tourism Awards were announced at a black tie dinner at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on Thursday, March 18 2010.
