Nigel MarvenStar Of Prehistoric Park Set To Step Back In Time In Doncaster

Date Posted: Wednesday 4th February

Natural history expert Nigel Marven is set to step back in time again to visit a world of dinosaurs and prehistoric life in Doncaster.

The TV star who's hit show Prehistoric Park captured the minds of millions will open the BBC Walking with Prehistoric Life Exhibition at the Doncaster Dome this weekend, Saturday 14th February at 12 noon.

The exhibition will give visitors a rare glimpse into the time when dinosaurs, cavemen and prehistoric beasts walked the earth.

Michael Hart, General Manager of the Dome said: “We are delighted to announce that Nigel Marven is going to officially open this exhibition for us.

"With over two decades of producing and presenting wildlife programmes we felt that he was the ideal man for the job.

"Nigel will spend time at the Dome opening the exhibition and mixing with customers who have made that leap back in time."

Television audience ratings soared to over 17 million when the BBC first transmitted the natural history series 'Walking with Dinosaurs' into our homes. Succeeded by series and special programmes that looked at life before and after dinosaurs - the Walking with Prehistoric Life exhibition brings them all together for the first time.

Visitors to the Doncaster Dome will be able to view at close range many of the dinosaurs and beasts featured in these fascinating series, as well as discovering the science and technology behind the programmes.

"Working in partnership with Yorkshire South our team has worked extremely hard to get the exhibition to the Dome and we hope that the people of Doncaster, South Yorkshire and beyond will come along and step back in time with us to explore these amazing creatures and the world they lived in,” added Michael.

Full-sized dinosaur replicas have been especially created for the exhibition so visitors can see these prehistoric wonders 'in the flesh' after seeing them on screen only as digitally created images.

The exhibition will feature some spectacular casts, including a six metre long Plateosaur skeleton, a T-Rex skull, a huge Triceratops skull, and real fossils that are over 100 million years old.

The exhibition runs from 11th February to 15th March and is open daily from 10am until 6pm. Tickets costing £7 adults, £5 for children and family tickets costing £20.00 (two adults and two children) are available from the Dome.
