Ice Skating Lessons Blog

BethKeep up-to-date with Lucy & Beth as they learn to skate at The Dome's Ice Academy. Each week they'll let you know how they're progressing.

Week 6

Lucy: Hoorey!!! I've passed my assessment! I'm moving up to the next level in November. The assessment was ok, the hardest part was the half snow plough.
Can't wait to start lessons again in November. Be in touch then! Bye for now x

Week 5

Lucy: Hiya  this week was our last week to practice. I'm getting nervous because next week is our exam to maybe move up to the next grade, I would be really pleased if I did move up - fingers crossed x

Week 4

Beth: Today we went on the top ice rink. My Mum said that I have improved well and so has Lucy.We learned a new thing today which was, To skate and glide on 1 foot. I thought it was going to be hard but it wasn't to hard. It was funny when we had to sit on the ice because I got stuck to it!

LucyLucy: Today I felt like I  was an expert even though I am not. James was making jokes a lot and he was very funny. We did gliding today it was fun u have to lift one leg up. I hope next week we will do some thing else too.

Week 3

Beth: It was good to get back on the ice again, after half term. Today we practiced more of touching our toes while skating, a little jump, forward pizzas and sitting down on the ice and standing up again. I am very confident now i dont need to hold onto the side well, i sometimes do.

Lucy: Tonight, I was alot more confident on the ice. We did pizza circles, jumping and at the end of the lesson we went down the ram. I had alot of fun going down it. I went quite fast but James was still there to make me feel safer. It was the best lesson so far.

Week 2

Beth: I really enjoyed ice-skating today. Although we were a little bit scared at first James helped us do it, so in the end we was really enjoying it and got a little bit better at it!

Lucy: Hi its Lucy, tonight we were assessed for groups. James said I had done really well in 2 Ice Academyweeks but needed to work on my gliding and skating on one leg. No skate lessons next week or during half term - boo hoo. Hopefully mum might bring me to the family skate session instead!

Week 1

Beth: I really liked Ice-skating today, James (our instructor) helped me and held my hand because I just started. We learned to skate, touch our toes while skating, do forward pizzas and sit on the ice and get back up again. Its really fun because you get to go down the ramp at the end of the session.

Lucy: Hello my names Lucy. Tonight I had my very first iceskating lesson at the Dome with James. He was very kind and taught me a lot even though it was my first go. It was great fun I learnt how to do pitza circles in the ice and jumping in the ice which was a bit scary but I was ok because James helped me balance. I can't wait for my next lesson!
